The Youngest Martyr of the Imams
Imam al-Jawad (a.s.) lived a short but impactful life. The Abbasid caliph Mu'tasim, threatened by the Imam's influence and the spread of Shi'ism, coerced the Imam's wife, Umm al-Fadl (who was the daughter of the previous caliph Ma'mun), to poison him. (Source: Bihar al-Anwar)
The Tragic End
Umm al-Fadl placed poison in his food (or a poisoned grape). When the Imam was in the throes of agonizing thirst, she closed the doors and refused him water. Imam al-Jawad (a.s.) attained martyrdom at the incredibly young age of 25 in 220 AH. He is buried in Kadhimiya next to his grandfather, Imam al-Kadhim (a.s.).
Aamal for the End of Dhul Qa'dah
On the last day of Dhul Qa'dah, Shia Muslims hold majalis to mourn the tragic and premature death of the 9th Imam. Reciting his Ziyarat, shedding tears for his oppression, and performing a specific two-Rakat prayer are highly emphasized.
ইমামদের মধ্যে সর্বকনিষ্ঠ শহীদ

মর্মান্তিক সমাপ্তি
উম্মুল ফজল তাঁর খাবারে (বা বিষাক্ত আঙুরে) বিষ মিশিয়ে দেয়। ইমাম যখন তীব্র তৃষ্ণায় ছটফট করছিলেন, তখন সে দরজা বন্ধ করে দেয় এবং তাঁকে পানি দিতে অস্বীকার করে। ইমাম আল-জাওয়াদ (আ.) ২২০ হিজরিতে মাত্র ২৫ বছর বয়সে শাহাদত বরণ করেন। তাঁকে কাজিমিয়ায় তাঁর দাদা ইমাম আল-কাজিমের (আ.) পাশে দাফন করা হয়।
জিলকদের শেষ দিনের আমল
জিলকদ মাসের শেষ দিনে, শিয়া মুসলমানরা ৯ম ইমামের মর্মান্তিক এবং অকাল মৃত্যুতে শোক প্রকাশ করতে মজলিসের আয়োজন করে। তাঁর জিয়ারত পাঠ করা, তাঁর ওপর হওয়া নিপীড়নের জন্য অশ্রু বিসর্জন দেওয়া এবং বিশেষ দুই রাকাত নামাজ আদায়ের ওপর অত্যন্ত জোর দেওয়া হয়।
