The Persecution by Al-Mansur
The Abbasid caliph Al-Mansur was extremely jealous of the Imam's massive following and knowledge. He summoned the Imam to Iraq multiple times with the intention of killing him, but each time, divine intervention protected the Imam. Mansur once even ordered the Imam's house in Medina to be set on fire, which the Imam walked through unharmed. (Source: Bihar al-Anwar)
Martyrdom
Eventually, Mansur succeeded in poisoning Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) through the governor of Medina. The Imam achieved martyrdom on the 25th of Shawwal 148 AH at the age of 65, making him the oldest among the Imams. He was buried in Jannat al-Baqi.

আল-মনসুরের নিপীড়ন
আব্বাসীয় খলিফা আল-মনসুর ইমামের বিশাল অনুসারী এবং জ্ঞানের প্রতি অত্যন্ত ঈর্ষান্বিত ছিল। সে ইমামকে হত্যা করার উদ্দেশ্যে একাধিকবার ইরাকে ডেকে পাঠিয়েছিল, কিন্তু প্রতিবারই ঐশী হস্তক্ষেপ ইমামকে রক্ষা করেছিল। মনসুর একবার মদিনায় ইমামের বাড়িতে আগুন দেওয়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছিল, যে আগুনের মধ্য দিয়ে ইমাম অক্ষত অবস্থায় হেঁটে বেরিয়েছিলেন। (সূত্র: বিহারুল আনোয়ার)
শাহাদত
অবশেষে, মনসুর মদিনার গভর্নরের মাধ্যমে ইমাম আল-সাদিককে (আ.) বিষ প্রয়োগে সফল হয়। ১৪৮ হিজরির ২৫ শওয়াল ৬৫ বছর বয়সে ইমাম শাহাদত বরণ করেন, যা তাঁকে ইমামদের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে প্রবীণ করে তোলে। তাঁকে জান্নাতুল বাকিতে দাফন করা হয়।
২৫ শওয়ালের আমল
এই শোকাবহ দিনে, শিয়া মুসলমানরা জাফরি মাজহাবের প্রতিষ্ঠাতার মৃত্যুতে শোক প্রকাশ করতে মজলিসের আয়োজন করে। তাঁর জিয়ারত পাঠ করা এবং নৈতিকতা, বিজ্ঞান ও ধর্মতত্ত্ব বিষয়ে তাঁর গভীর শিক্ষা নিয়ে চিন্তা করার অত্যন্ত সুপারিশ করা হয়।
