- 11 Dhu al-Qi'dah 148 AH
The Scholar of the Ahl al-Bayt
Imam Ali al-Ridha (a.s.) was born on the 11th of Dhul Qa'dah 148 AH. Known as 'Al-Ridha' (The Satisfied One), he was renowned for his profound knowledge, debate skills, and deep spirituality. The period between the birth of his sister, Lady Fatima Masuma (s.a.), and his birth is celebrated as the 'Decade of Keramat' (Dahe-ye Keramat). (Source: Uyun Akhbar al-Ridha)
His Intellectual Dominance
During the reign of Ma'mun, the Imam was forced to move to Khorasan. Ma'mun organized grand debates with scholars of various religions and sects, hoping to defeat the Imam. Instead, Imam al-Ridha (a.s.) brilliantly answered all their questions using their own scriptures, firmly establishing the intellectual superiority of the Ahl al-Bayt.
