The Spread of True Islam

Despite his purely academic and spiritual focus, Imam al-Baqir's (a.s.) immense popularity and authority in Islamic jurisprudence posed a threat to the Umayyad caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik. The Imam had tirelessly worked to refute the deviant ideologies spread by the corrupt rulers. (Source: Tarikh al-Yaqubi)
