The Greatest Eid (Eid-e-Akbar)

On the 18th of Dhul Hijjah 10 AH, while returning from the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Prophet (PBUH) received the divine command: 'O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord' (Quran 5:67). He halted the caravan of over 100,000 pilgrims at Ghadeer Khumm.

The Declaration of Wilayah

The Prophet (PBUH) raised Imam Ali's (a.s.) hand and made the historic declaration: 'Man Kuntu Mawlahu fa hadha Aliyyun Mawlahu' (For whomever I am the Master, Ali is his Master). Following this, the verse of the perfection of religion was revealed (Quran 5:3). This event is the cornerstone of Shia belief, establishing the divine leadership (Imamate).
