The Kufan Horseman
Amr ibn Dhubay'a al-Dabbi (r.a.) was known as a brave and skilled horseman from Kufa. Some historical traditions even suggest that he had the profound honor of meeting the Prophet Muhammad (s) during his lifetime. Initially, however, Amr arrived at the plains of Karbala as a conscripted soldier in the army of Umar ibn Sa'd.
Awakening and Defection
The stark contrast between right and wrong became evident to Amr as the days in Karbala passed. When the Kufan army obstinately refused Imam al-Husayn's (a) reasonable peace proposals and denied him the right to leave, Amr could no longer remain complicit in the unfolding injustice. Breaking away from the ranks of tyranny, he and a group of like-minded individuals defected to the camp of truth, joining the rightful Imam (a).
Martyrdom and Honor
Having purified his soul through this defection, Amr stood shoulder to shoulder with the loyal companions. On the tragic Day of Ashura, he faced the very army he had left behind and was martyred during their brutal first assault. His ultimate choice of faith over worldly safety is forever honored, and his name is blessed in the Ziyarat al-Shuhada.

কুফার অশ্বারোহী

জাগরণ এবং পক্ষত্যাগ
কারবালায় দিন যত গড়াচ্ছিল, আমরের কাছে ন্যায় ও অন্যায়ের মাঝে পার্থক্য তত স্পষ্ট হচ্ছিল। যখন কুফার বাহিনী জেদ করে ইমাম আল-হুসাইন (আঃ) এর যুক্তিসঙ্গত শান্তির প্রস্তাব প্রত্যাখ্যান করে এবং তাকে ফিরে যাওয়ার অধিকার থেকে বঞ্চিত করে, তখন আমর আর এই অন্যায়ে শামিল থাকতে পারেননি। স্বৈরাচারের সারি থেকে বেরিয়ে এসে, তিনি এবং সমমনা একদল লোক সত্যের শিবিরে চলে আসেন এবং ন্যায়সঙ্গত ইমাম (আঃ) এর সাথে যোগ দেন।
শাহাদাত এবং সম্মান
এই পক্ষত্যাগের মাধ্যমে নিজের আত্মাকে শুদ্ধ করে, আমর বিশ্বস্ত সাহাবীদের সাথে কাঁধে কাঁধ মিলিয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিলেন। আশুরার মর্মান্তিক দিনে, তিনি সেই বাহিনীরই মুখোমুখি হয়েছিলেন যাকে তিনি পেছনে ফেলে এসেছিলেন এবং তাদের প্রথম নিষ্ঠুর আক্রণেই তিনি শাহাদাত বরণ করেন। পার্থিব নিরাপত্তার চেয়ে বিশ্বাসকে বেছে নেওয়ার তার এই চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত চিরকালের জন্য সম্মানিত হয়েছে এবং 'জিয়ারতে শুহাদা' তে তার নাম মোবারক স্মরণ করা হয়।
