Early Life and Background
Aabis ibn Abi Shabib al-Shakiri (r.a.) belonged to the Banu Shakir branch of the Hamdan tribe. He was known for his eloquence, bravery, and unwavering devotion to the Ahlul Bayt (A.S.). His tribe, Banu Shakir, were among the most loyal supporters of Imam Ali (A.S.), who affectionately called them the "Youths of Tariq." Aabis was highly respected in Kufa and played a crucial role in supporting Muslim ibn Aqil before joining Imam Husayn (A.S.).
Role in Karbala
In Karbala, Aabis proved to be one of the bravest warriors. When the battle commenced on the Day of Ashura, he addressed Imam Husayn (A.S.), saying, "There is no one on the face of the earth, near or far, dearer to me than you. If I could defend you against oppression with anything more precious than my soul and my blood, I would have done so." After seeking permission, he entered the battlefield.
Martyrdom
As Aabis approached the enemy, his reputation as an invincible warrior struck fear into the hearts of the Umayyad army, and no one dared to face him in single combat. Seeing this, Umar ibn Sa'ad ordered his men to attack him with stones. Overwhelmed by his passion and love for Imam Husayn (A.S.), Aabis famously threw off his armor and helmet, charging fearlessly into the enemy ranks. He fought valiantly until he attained martyrdom. প্রারম্ভিক জীবন ও পটভূমি
আব্বিস ইবনে আবি শাবীব আশ-শাকেরী (রা.) হামদান গোত্রের বানু শাকের শাখার অন্তর্গত ছিলেন। তিনি তাঁর বাগ্মিতা, বীরত্ব এবং আহলে বাইত (আ.)-এর প্রতি অটল ভক্তির জন্য পরিচিত ছিলেন। তাঁর গোত্র, বানু শাকের, ইমাম আলী (আ.)-এর অন্যতম বিশ্বস্ত সমর্থক ছিল, যিনি ভালোবেসে তাঁদের "তারেকের যুবক" বলতেন। কুফায় আব্বিস অত্যন্ত সম্মানিত ছিলেন এবং ইমাম হুসাইন (আ.)-এর সাথে যোগদানের আগে মুসলিম ইবনে আকীলের সমর্থনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেছিলেন।
কারবালায় ভূমিকা
কারবালায় আব্বিস অন্যতম সাহসী যোদ্ধা হিসেবে নিজেকে প্রমাণ করেন। আশুরার দিন যুদ্ধ শুরু হলে তিনি ইমাম হুসাইন (আ.)-কে উদ্দেশ্য করে বলেন, "পৃথিবীর বুকে, কাছে বা দূরে, আমার কাছে আপনার চেয়ে প্রিয় আর কেউ নেই। যদি আমি আমার প্রাণ এবং রক্তের চেয়েও মূল্যবান কিছু দিয়ে আপনাকে জুলুমের হাত থেকে রক্ষা করতে পারতাম, তবে আমি তা-ই করতাম।" অনুমতির পর তিনি যুদ্ধক্ষেত্রে প্রবেশ করেন।
শাহাদাত
আব্বিস যখন শত্রুদের দিকে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছিলেন, তখন একজন অজেয় যোদ্ধা হিসেবে তাঁর খ্যাতি উমাইয়া বাহিনীর হৃদয়ে ভয় ধরিয়ে দেয় এবং কেউ তাঁর মুখোমুখি একক লড়াইয়ে অবতীর্ণ হতে সাহস পায়নি। এই অবস্থা দেখে উমর ইবনে সা'দ তাঁর সৈন্যদের তাঁকে পাথর ছুঁড়ে আক্রমণ করার নির্দেশ দেন। ইমাম হুসাইন (আ.)-এর প্রতি আবেগ ও ভালোবাসায় আপ্লুত হয়ে আব্বিস তাঁর বর্ম এবং শিরস্ত্রাণ ছুঁড়ে ফেলে দেন এবং নির্ভয়ে শত্রু শিবিরে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়েন। তিনি বীরত্বের সাথে যুদ্ধ করে শাহাদাত বরণ করেন। বিস্তারিত ঐতিহাসিক বর্ণনার জন্য দেখুন নাফাসুল মাহমুম।
