Early Life and Background
Shabib ibn Abd Allah al-Nahshali (r.a.), often referred to as Abu Amr, was a highly respected Tabi'i (follower of the Prophet's companions) and a prominent figure from the Nahshal tribe. He was a veteran warrior who had loyally served Imam Ali (a.s.), participating alongside him in the major battles of Jamal, Siffin, and Nahrawan. His steadfast devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt naturally led him to support Imam Husayn (a.s.). He accompanied the Imam from Medina to Mecca, and eventually to Karbala. (Source: Al-Islam.org)
Role in Karbala and Martyrdom
Due to his age and experience, Shabib was a venerable presence in Imam Husayn's camp. On the Day of Ashura, when the army of Umar ibn Sa'd launched their massive first assault, Shabib was among the vanguard who fiercely defended the camp. He fought with the skill and bravery characteristic of Imam Ali's veterans and attained martyrdom during this initial, intense clash. His name is honored in the Ziyarat al-Shuhada. (Source: WikiShia)
