Identity and Background
Hayaam ibn Basir, widely referenced in classical Shia maqatil as Habbab ibn Amir (or Hayyan ibn Basir), was a dedicated Shi'a from Kufa. Amidst the intense political repression and fear instilled by Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad, Hayaam remained steadfast in his loyalty to the Ahl al-Bayt. He belonged to a group of faithful Kufans who refused to succumb to Umayyad bribes and threats.
Role at Karbala
Hayaam secretly left Kufa and journeyed to pledge his allegiance to Imam Husayn (a.s.) while the Imam was en route to Karbala. He is listed among the noble companions by prominent scholars like Ibn Shahr Ashub. On the Day of Ashura, during the fierce first attack (Hamlah al-Ula) launched by the army of Umar ibn Sa'd, Hayaam valiantly defended the tents of the Imam. He fought relentlessly until he was struck down and joined the ranks of the blessed martyrs.

হায়াম গোপনে কুফা ত্যাগ করেন এবং ইমাম হুসাইন (আ.) কারবালার পথে থাকা অবস্থায় তার প্রতি আনুগত্য প্রকাশের উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা করেন। ইবনে শাহর আশুবের মতো বিশিষ্ট পণ্ডিতদের দ্বারা তিনি মহান সঙ্গীদের তালিকায় অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়েছেন। আশুরার দিন, উমর ইবনে সাদের বাহিনীর দ্বারা পরিচালিত ভয়ানক প্রথম আক্রমণে (হামলাহ আল-উলা) হায়াম বীরত্বের সাথে ইমামের তাঁবু রক্ষা করেছিলেন। তিনি শহীদদের পবিত্র সারিতে যোগ দেওয়ার আগ পর্যন্ত অবিরাম লড়াই করেছিলেন।
