Imamate in Childhood
Imam al-Jawad (a.s.) became the Imam at the tender age of eight following the martyrdom of his father. This initially caused confusion among some followers. However, they soon realized his profound wisdom when he effortlessly answered complex theological and jurisprudential questions, drawing parallels to Prophets Jesus and John the Baptist, who also received divine wisdom in childhood.
Debate with Yahya ibn Aktham
The Caliph Al-Ma'mun arranged a high-profile debate between the young Imam and the Chief Justice, Yahya ibn Aktham. The Imam so completely overwhelmed the Chief Justice with his mastery of Islamic law that the entire court was left in awe.
Legacy of Generosity
His title Al-Jawad means the generous one. He was known for his extraordinary charity and helping the poor at night. He was martyred at the age of 25, making him the youngest Imam to be martyred.
শৈশবে ইমামত
ইমাম জাওয়াদ (আ.) তাঁর পিতার শাহাদাতের পর মাত্র আট বছর বয়সে ইমাম হন। এটি প্রাথমিকভাবে কিছু অনুসারীর মধ্যে বিভ্রান্তির সৃষ্টি করেছিল। তবে, তিনি যখন অবলীলায় জটিল ধর্মতাত্ত্বিক এবং ফিকহী প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিতে শুরু করেন, তখন তারা তাঁর প্রগাঢ় প্রজ্ঞা উপলব্ধি করে। এটি নবী ঈসা এবং ইয়াহিয়ার (আ.) সাথে তুলনীয়, যারা শৈশবেই ঐশী প্রজ্ঞা লাভ করেছিলেন।
ইয়াহিয়া ইবনে আকথামের সাথে বিতর্ক
খলিফা আল-মামুন তরুণ ইমাম এবং প্রধান বিচারপতি ইয়াহিয়া ইবনে আকথামের মধ্যে একটি বড় বিতর্কের আয়োজন করেন। ইমাম ইসলামী আইনের ওপর তাঁর দখল দিয়ে প্রধান বিচারপতিকে এমনভাবে পরাভূত করেন যে পুরো দরবার হতবাক হয়ে যায়।
দানশীলতার উত্তরাধিকার
তাঁর আল-জাওয়াদ উপাধির অর্থ হলো দানশীল। তিনি তাঁর অসাধারণ দানশীলতা এবং রাতে দরিদ্রদের সাহায্য করার জন্য পরিচিত ছিলেন। মাত্র ২৫ বছর বয়সে তিনি শাহাদত বরণ করেন, যা তাঁকে সবচেয়ে কম বয়সী শহীদ ইমামে পরিণত করে।
