Noble Jewish Lineage

Safiyya was the daughter of Huyayy ibn Akhtab, a chief of the Jewish Banu Nadir tribe. She traced her lineage directly back to Prophet Aaron (Harun), the brother of Moses. After the Battle of Khaybar, she was taken captive. The Prophet (PBUH) offered her the choice between remaining Jewish and returning to her people, or accepting Islam and marrying him. She chose Islam and the Prophet.

Patience Against Prejudice

Despite her sincere faith, she occasionally faced prejudice and hurtful remarks from some of the other wives regarding her Jewish heritage. The Prophet deeply defended her, instructing her to reply with pride: "My father is Aaron, my uncle is Moses, and my husband is Muhammad!"

Loyalty to the Ahl al-Bayt

In Shia tradition, Safiyya is highly respected. After the Prophet's death, during the tumultuous political periods, she remained firmly loyal to Imam Ali (a.s.). When Uthman's house was besieged, she attempted to bring food and water to him, demonstrating a noble and forgiving character.
