Early Life and Birth

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) was born in Mecca on the 17th of Rabi' al-Awwal in the Year of the Elephant (approximately 570 CE). His father, Abdullah, passed away before his birth, and his mother, Aminah, died when he was just six. He was raised by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, and later his uncle, Abu Talib. Even before his prophethood, he was known throughout Mecca for his impeccable honesty and character, earning him the titles Al-Sadiq (The Truthful) and Al-Amin (The Trustworthy).

The Revelation and Lifestyle

At the age of 40, while meditating in the Cave of Hira, the Angel Jibra'il (Gabriel) appeared to him, marking the beginning of the divine revelation of the Holy Quran. For 23 years, the Prophet endured immense hardships, persecution, and social boycotts to deliver the message of Tawhid (Oneness of God). His lifestyle was one of profound simplicity, compassion, and absolute submission to Allah. He treated the poor with utmost dignity, championed justice, and elevated the status of women in society.

Contributions to Islam

The Prophet's (PBUH) greatest contribution is the establishment of Islam and the preservation of the Holy Quran. He transformed a fragmented, tribal society into a unified community (Ummah) bound by faith and justice. Among his monumental declarations was the event of Ghadeer Khumm, where he raised the hand of Imam Ali (a.s.) and declared, "For whomever I am his Master (Mawla), Ali is his Master." He also established the doctrine of Thaqalayn, leaving behind two weighty things for guidance: the Book of Allah and his Ahl al-Bayt (Household).

Associated Duas and Practices

The Prophet gifted the Ummah countless supplications and practices. The famous Dua Jawshan Kabir, a profound supplication containing 1,000 names of Allah, was revealed to him during a battle. He also taught Tasbih of Lady Fatima, a simple yet spiritually powerful dhikr, to his beloved daughter.

Death and Succession

The Prophet (PBUH) passed away on the 28th of Safar 11 AH in Medina, resulting from the lingering effects of poison given to him years earlier at Khaybar. His passing plunged the Muslim world into immense grief. Following the divine decree announced at Ghadeer, his rightful successor was Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.), though historical events led to a diversion in political leadership.
