Life and Role at Karbala
Hajjaj ibn Masruq al-Ju'fi (r.a.) was a devout companion of Imam Ali (a.s) who later joined Imam Husayn (a.s). He met the Imam at Qasr Bani Muqatil and traveled with the caravan, serving as the official Mu'adhin (caller to prayer). He called the Adhan five times a day during the fateful journey to Karbala.
On the day of Ashura, Hajjaj fought fiercely against the forces of Yazid. After sustaining severe wounds and being covered in blood, he returned to Imam Husayn (a.s) to seek his final blessings, reciting poetry expressing his joy to meet his grandfather, the Prophet (s.a.w.a). The Imam blessed him, and he returned to the battlefield, fighting until he fell as a martyr.
Legacy
His beautiful voice and unwavering loyalty have immortalized his name. Details of his bravery are recorded in Nafasul Mahmum.
