Arrival with His Son

Bashir ibn Amr al-Kindi (also known as al-Hadhrami) (r.a.) was an exceptionally devoted follower of Imam al-Husayn (a). Recognizing his divine duty, he traveled to the plains of Karbala alongside his son, Muhammad, to pledge their lives in defense of the true Islam and the Prophet's (s) holy family.

A Test of Faith on Ashura

On the harrowing Day of Ashura, Bashir faced a profound test. News arrived that another of his sons had been taken captive at the borders of Rey. Upon hearing this, Imam al-Husayn (a) mercifully absolved Bashir of his allegiance, giving him some valuable garments and urging him to sell them to secure his captive son's release. However, Bashir's devotion to the Imam was paramount. He famously replied that he would rather be devoured by wild beasts alive than abandon the grandson of the Prophet (s) in his time of need.

Legacy of Absolute Devotion

True to his word, Bashir remained steadfast on the battlefield. He fought with unmatched courage until he attained martyrdom. His remarkable sacrifice and prioritized love for the Ahl al-Bayt over his own flesh and blood made him an enduring symbol of loyalty. He is warmly greeted in Ziyarat al-Rajabiyya.
