A Life of Mourning and Guidance

For 34 years after Karbala, Imam Sajjad (a.s.) wept whenever he saw food or water, remembering the extreme thirst and hunger his family endured. Despite this profound grief, he rebuilt the foundational beliefs of the Shia community through his prayers and the training of close companions like Abu Hamza al-Thumali. (Source: Bihar al-Anwar)

Martyrdom

The growing spiritual influence of Imam Sajjad (a.s.) threatened the Umayyad rulers. Al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik ordered the governor of Medina to poison the Imam. He achieved martyrdom on the 25th of Muharram 95 AH and was buried in Jannat al-Baqi alongside his uncle Imam Hassan (a.s.).

Aamal for 25th Muharram

On this day, Shia Muslims hold majalis to recount the life of the 4th Imam, emphasizing his role as the savior of the Karbala narrative. Reciting his Ziyarat and reading the 'Risalat al-Huquq' (Treatise of Rights) authored by him are highly recommended.
