The Expedition for Water

By the 8th of Muharram, the cries of thirsty children echoed through the camp. Imam Hussain (a.s.) entrusted his brother, Hazrat Abbas (a.s.), with the task of fetching water. Accompanied by thirty horsemen and twenty footmen, Hazrat Abbas launched a daring night raid on the Euphrates.

Bravery of Hazrat Abbas

Facing a massive blockade, Hazrat Abbas and his companions fought valiantly. They managed to break through the enemy lines, filled twenty water skins, and safely returned to the camp. This heroic act provided temporary relief to the parched throats of the women and children. (Source: Tarikh al-Tabari)
