41. Asking to Be Covered and Protected
Sahifa Sajjadiyya, Dua 41: Asking to Be Covered and Protected
Imam Zayn al-Abidin (a.s.) recited this supplication asking Allah to cover his faults and protect him. It asks Allah not to reveal what we have hidden, not to examine us strictly, and not to shame us before people.
It ends by asking to be counted among the Companions of the Right, those who are safe, and the righteous.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
বিসমিল্লাহির রাহমানির রাহীম
পরম করুণাময়, অসীম দয়ালু আল্লাহর নামে।
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The supplication of Imam Zayn al-Abidin (a.s.) in asking to be covered and protected:
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ
আল্লাহুম্মা সাল্লি আলা মুহাম্মাদিও ওয়া আলিহ
হে আল্লাহ, মুহাম্মাদ ও তাঁর পরিবারের ওপর দরুদ পাঠান,
Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammadiw wa alih
O Allah, bless Muhammad and his family,
وَأَفْرِشْنِي مِهَادَ كَرَامَتِكَ
ওয়া আফরিশনী মিহাদা কারামাতিক
আপনার সম্মানের বিছানা আমার জন্য বিছিয়ে দিন,
wa afrishni mihada karamatik
spread out for me the bed of Your honour,
وَأَوْرِدْنِي مَشَارِعَ رَحْمَتِكَ
ওয়া আওরিদনী মাশারিআ রাহমাতিক
আপনার রহমতের ঘাটে আমাকে নামিয়ে দিন,
wa awridni mashari'a rahmatik
bring me down to the watering places of Your mercy,
وَأَحْلِلْنِي بُحْبُوحَةَ جَنَّتِكَ
ওয়া আহলিলনী বুহবূহাতা জান্নাতিক
আপনার জান্নাতের মাঝখানে আমাকে থাকতে দিন,
wa ahlilni buhbuhata jannatik
settle me in the heart of Your Garden,
وَلَا تَسُمْنِي بِالرَّدِّ عَنْكَ
ওয়া লা তাসুমনী বির রাদ্দি আনক
আপনার দরজা থেকে ফিরিয়ে দেওয়ার দাগ আমার গায়ে লাগাবেন না,
wa la tasumni bir raddi 'ank
do not brand me with being turned away from You,
وَلَا تَحْرِمْنِي بِالْخَيْبَةِ مِنْكَ
ওয়া লা তাহরিমনী বিল খাইবাতি মিনক
আর আপনার কাছ থেকে খালি হাতে ফিরিয়ে আমাকে বঞ্চিত করবেন না।
wa la tahrimni bil khaybati mink
and do not deprive me by sending me away from You empty-handed.
وَلَا تُقَاصَّنِي بِمَا اجْتَرَحْتُ
ওয়া লা তুকাসসানী বিমাজতারাহত
আমি যা করেছি, তার বদলা আমার কাছ থেকে নেবেন না,
Wa la tuqassani bimajtaraht
Do not settle accounts with me for what I have done,
وَلَا تُنَاقِشْنِي بِمَا اكْتَسَبْتُ
ওয়া লা তুনাকিশনী বিমাকতাসাবত
আমি যা কামিয়েছি, তার চুলচেরা হিসাব নেবেন না,
wa la tunaqishni bimaktasabt
do not examine me closely for what I have earned,
وَلَا تُبْرِزْ مَكْتُومِي
ওয়া লা তুবরিয মাকতূমী
আমার লুকানো বিষয় প্রকাশ করবেন না,
wa la tubriz maktumi
do not bring out what I have hidden,
وَلَا تَكْشِفْ مَسْتُورِي
ওয়া লা তাকশিফ মাসতূরী
আমার ঢাকা বিষয় খুলে দেবেন না,
wa la takshif masturi
do not uncover what I have covered,
وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَىٰ مِيزَانِ الْإِنْصَافِ عَمَلِي
ওয়া লা তাহমিল আলা মীযানিল ইনসাফি আমালী
ন্যায়ের পাল্লায় আমার আমল তুলবেন না,
wa la tahmil 'ala mizanil insafi 'amali
do not put my deeds on the scale of strict fairness,
وَلَا تُعْلِنْ عَلَىٰ عُيُونِ الْمَلَإِ خَبَرِي
ওয়া লা তু'লিন আলা উয়ূনিল মালাই খাবারী
আর সবার চোখের সামনে আমার খবর প্রকাশ করবেন না।
wa la tu'lin 'ala 'uyunil mala'i khabari
and do not make my story known before the eyes of all.
أَخْفِ عَنْهُمْ مَا يَكُونُ نَشْرُهُ عَلَيَّ عَاراً
আখফি আনহুম মা ইয়াকূনু নাশরুহূ আলাইয়া আরা
যা ছড়িয়ে পড়লে আমার লজ্জা হবে, তা তাদের কাছ থেকে লুকিয়ে রাখুন,
Akhfi 'anhum ma yakunu nashruhu 'alayya 'ara
Hide from them whatever would shame me if it were spread,
وَاطْوِ عَنْهُمْ مَا يُلْحِقُنِي عِنْدَكَ شَنَاراً
ওয়াতওয়ি আনহুম মা ইউলহিকুনী ইনদাকা শানারা
আর আপনার কাছে যা আমার জন্য কলঙ্ক বয়ে আনে, তা তাদের থেকে গুটিয়ে রাখুন।
watwi 'anhum ma yulhiquni 'indaka shanara
and fold away from them whatever would bring me disgrace before You.
شَرِّفْ دَرَجَتِي بِرِضْوَانِكَ
শাররিফ দারাজাতী বিরিদওয়ানিক
আপনার সন্তুষ্টি দিয়ে আমার মর্যাদা উঁচু করে দিন,
Sharrif darajati biridwanik
Raise my rank through Your good pleasure,
وَأَكْمِلْ كَرَامَتِي بِغُفْرَانِكَ
ওয়া আকমিল কারামাতী বিগুফরানিক
আপনার ক্ষমা দিয়ে আমার সম্মান পূর্ণ করে দিন,
wa akmil karamati bighufranik
complete my honour through Your forgiveness,
وَانْظِمْنِي فِي أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ
ওয়ানযিমনী ফী আসহাবিল ইয়ামীন
আমাকে ডান হাতের সঙ্গীদের সারিতে গেঁথে দিন, (৫৬:২৭)
wanzimni fi ashabil yamin
string me in among the Companions of the Right (56:27),
وَوَجِّهْنِي فِي مَسَالِكِ الْآمِنِينَ
ওয়া ওয়াজ্জিহনী ফী মাসালিকিল আমিনীন
নিরাপদ মানুষদের পথে আমাকে চালিত করুন,
wa wajjihni fi masalikil aminin
guide me along the paths of those who are safe,
وَاجْعَلْنِي فِي فَوْجِ الْفَائِزِينَ
ওয়াজআলনী ফী ফাওজিল ফাইযীন
আমাকে সফলকামদের দলে রাখুন,
waj'alni fi fawjil fa'izin
place me in the company of the successful,
وَاعْمُرْ بِي مَجَالِسَ الصَّالِحِينَ
ওয়া'মুর বী মাজালিসাস সালিহীন
আর আমাকে দিয়ে নেককারদের মজলিস ভরিয়ে তুলুন।
wa'mur bi majalisas salihin
and let me help fill the gatherings of the righteous.
آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
আমীনা রাব্বাল আলামীন
আমীন, হে বিশ্বজগতের রব!

Amen, Lord of the worlds!
